Build a Boma

Our Build a Lion Boma Initiative aims to support the ABCF Human-Wildlife conflict efforts in the Mola community in Zimbabwe. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions. A boma is a cloth material that is used to cover kraal’s so lions are unable to see the animals in the kraal, thus protecting the livestock inside from lions. By protecting the community’s livestock from lions and other predators, we are reducing human-wildlife conflict in the area and retaliation killing of wildlife.

For a donation of $2,000, ABCF can purchase a lion boma for the Mola community. Guests can participate in this intiative by donating towards a lion boma. As part of this donation, guests get to visit the Mola community during their stay at Bumi Hills and work with the community to erect the lion boma in the community.

This initiative is included in the conservation impact safari or can be added to any ABC safari booking that includes our Bumi hillslodge.

Reviews

  • Bumi Hills is the most elegant place I have stayed in Africa. But that is actually not what moves me about it. What moves me is the in-depth and ongoing connection between the ABC company that runs the lodge and the village, school, and health center. Getting to meet people in these areas and see what they are doing to help themselves through a really tough time is inspiriting and humbling. AND the game viewing here is beyond the beyond as well

  • What an amazing experience we are so thankful we took this trip to Bumi Hills. Everything at Bumi is just 10/10 the staff is so friendly and very helpful, rooms are so so clean, the furniture the bed is just to die for, the food is just so divine those chef have really great experience on point.

  • The location is stunning. Set above the shimmering expanse of Lake Kariba, this lodge is beautifully designed with many local artefacts, a pool, outdoor dining, shady trees and gardens. The rooms are luxurious each with balcony at tree top level. You can sit watching elephant and buffalo on the waters edge.
