Somalisa Acacia, nestled within the heart of Hwange, is the ideal sanctuary for families seeking an authentic safari experience paired with timeless luxury. Take in magnificent landscapes and search for majestic animals as you experience refined spaces and exceptional service. At Somalisa Acacia, create unforgettable memories with your family in the heart of the African wild.

Embark on remarkable game drives, walking safaris, birding excursions, and cultural visits. Witness the Elephant Pool to delight in close-up encounters with elephants as they drink – all in a safe setting that forms a natural extension of the property. Children are especially welcomed at this family-focused Experience, where they can enjoy the unique offerings of our Ngwana Club. This includes a variety of safari adventures specially curated by our expert guides, including traditional storytelling, arts, crafts, and nature walks where younger guests can even receive their ‘Junior Guide’ certificate.

Set against the untamed backdrop of Hwange National Park, Somalisa Acacia epitomizes the natural beauty of the African wild. Paired with the sophistication of refined luxury, the property blends elements of canvas, gauze, and natural wood to create an authentic ambiance for an extraordinary family safari. A communal firepit and spacious wooden deck offer ample room for reconnection and relaxation. This Experience embraces sustainability, featuring solar power and a water purification system that recycles up to 80% of its water. It also overlooks a wildlife watering hole, attracting a diverse array of animals and providing many opportunities for observation.

Somalisa Acacia has two luxury tented suites and two luxury tented family suites that feature inter-connecting bedrooms. From the comfort of your own private viewing deck, watch as zebra, giraffe, and other wildlife gracefully saunter into view. All luxury tented suites include a wood-burning fireplace, a copper slipper-style bath, a lavish king-size bed, and an indoor and outdoor shower. Our family luxury tented suites are connected to the main area by a wooden boardwalk. Inside each suite, you’ll find two interconnected rooms; the children’s room, slightly cozier, features a privacy flap that can be drawn down for added seclusion between the two rooms. There are cots available for young children.

Enjoy sharing and conserving Africa with the next generation as you bask in the beauty of Somalisa Acacia.

Reviews

  • The accommodations are SO comfortable and luxurious, the food delicious, and the people (both guests and staff) so enjoyable. You can’t beat sitting with a drink and watching the changing parade of wildlife coming to the water hole, or sitting on your private porch or taking a private outdoor shower watching the zebras and kudus joining the elephants at the water. (And the morning wake up — “knock, knock” accompanied by a thermos of hot coffee, couldn’t be any better!) Highly recommend the Somalis camps!

  • When I think of our 13 nights on safari in three countries, the image that shines most brightly is here, lying on a lounge chair and watching elephants large and small guzzling water at my feet, herds of buffalo and wildebeest trooping by, cautious kudu, playful zebras and the occasional scuffle between the beasts and the species.

  • Everything about Somalisa was excellent. The family tent we had was beautifully arranged & had everything we needed to feel safe and comfortable. Our room had a full verandah that looked out onto the main watering hole which was frequently visited by elephants, zebras, water buffalo etc. Just amazing.

  • Africa explorers of all ages should experience this African Bush Camp at least once. Somalisa Acacia lies close to Somalisa Camp offers family tents and takes children below 12 years of age. We had the utmost pleasure of enjoying 4 nights at Somalisa. Tents offer all the comfort you want while sleeping almost amongst the elephants
