Reviews

  • I cannot begin to describe what an exceptional camp this is. Africa Bush Camps have set the standard for excellence. I’ve stayed in many camps in various countries and none are as well done as the ABC camps. The tents are just lovely and comfortable. When it was cold at night they provided hot water bottles. The staff were just excellent. If you like elephants this is the place as they are everywhere! This is a must stay place.

  • We are overawed and deeply touched by the passion, enthusiasm, drive, respect and service mindedness that is engrained in all personnel and Somalisa Expeditions. Once back home in the European “jungle” does one really realize how special, beautiful and exceptional our experience has been. We look back with deep gratitude to all who made this trip an unforgettable experience.

  • I cannot summarise in one review how amazing this place is. The lodge offers luxury, wonderful food, amazing service and superb facilities. The aspect, however, that really marks this camp out as one of the most fantastic places is its people. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with warmth, sincerity and first-class hospitality.

Our Local Foundation Projects

Mambanje Community Garden

Food security and access to healthy food and produce are major challenges faced by communities surrounding our camps. The Mambanje community is located near the Hwange National Park border. This community has about 160 households in the community. The scarcity of food in this community has a massive impact on the livelihoods of the communities with many struggling to feed their families.

Thandanani Sewing Group

Thandanani, which means “love each other,” is a local sewing group run by women in the community of Dete, in Hwange. They make beautiful African print placemats, bags, robes, travel wallets, and clothes. Everything they make is unique and made with love. Items are for sale at the ABC trading post in our camp.

Mambanje Primary School

Dete is a rural township located near the Hwange National Park Main Camp area and a 2.5-hour drive from the African Bush Camps Somalisa Concession. The Mambanje community is a remote village comprising 160 families. Challenges faced by this community include lack of running water, no power, no network, and poor road infrastructure in the area.
