Award-Winning Luxury
This is without a doubt the most sleek and fashionable of Mozambique’s rising number of upscale beach hotels. Take the thatched lounge and Star Bar, for example, which open directly onto the beach and are equipped with an eclectic mix of comfortable seats, carefully selected artworks, and colourful cushions of all shapes and sizes. There are so many lovely details, our favourite being the fish sculpture made entirely of silver tableware! The unusual shaggy front to all the thatched roofs of Azura, from the villas and major structures to the beach-shaded salas, is the lodge’s identity.
The name Azura means’ ‘beautiful blue, ‘ and the entire resort was designed to maximise vistas of the turquoise-saturated sea and sky. It is a short walk across powdery sand to one of Azura’s 17 villas, the smallest of which are the 2 Beach Villas, which still have all the creature comforts, including a plunge pool; 3 Luxury Beach Villas; and 10 Infinity Beach Villas, which have larger plunge pools and more favourable positions further away from the main public areas. If you are travelling as a family, there are two larger and even more opulent homes—the Villa Amizade and the Presidential Villa.
