Introducing Our Intimate Heartlands

At African Bush Camps, we are passionate about providing our guests with an extraordinary safari experience that is fully immersed in our intimate heartlands, the wildlife around our camps, the rich history of our people and our connection to nature.

We believe that an African safari is a journey that goes beyond the surface, opening your eyes to the profound connection between humanity and the natural world.

Our Intimate Heartlands

Our intimate heartlands are located in the heart of Southern Africa. Our professional guides are fueled by an insatiable passion, who possess an intimate knowledge of the land down to every crevice and up to its every peak.

intimate heartlands

Choosing to stay at our intimate camps in Zimbabwe, Botswana, or Zambia guarantees an unparalleled experience. Each intimate heartland has been meticulously handpicked to offer an authentic African safari experience that defies expectations and transcends the ordinary, and mundane. From the luxury tents nestled on the banks of the Zambezi River to the rustic elegance of our camps in the heart of Botswana’s wilderness, African Bush Camps combines comfort with an authentic connection to nature.

We understand that when you come to a place as special as this, you crave an experience that will show you another world while also showing you a part of yourself that you haven’t met before. At African Bush Camps, we live in service of sharing our wild perspective with you.

Understanding Our Heart and Our People

By now, you may be aware of our intimate heartlands in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia, the birth region of our founder, Beks Ndlovu, and most of our guides. Our guides are professional, experienced and considered custodians of the land. They possess an intricate understanding of the ecosystems, migration patterns, and geographical nuances that shape this remarkable landscape.

It is our core belief that a truly deep relationship with nature and community can only be fostered by our shared commitment to our land. For this reason, we have chosen to concentrate our camps in our Southern African home region, where we can continue growing and sharing knowledge, caring and being cared for by our neighbours, humans, and animals alike, and nurturing a generations-long community bond.

Our Camps

We have meticulously curated a collection of exceptional camps, each offering a unique experience that immerses you in the heart and soul of the Southern African wilderness.

Our camps are strategically positioned to offer an intimate encounter with the land and its topography. We firmly believe in entrenching our roots through knowledge and conservation, rather than spreading a surface level footprint across the continent. This is what sets the African Bush Camps experience apart.

When we look at a map of our heartland, we do not simply see destinations from A to B. We see every contour of the land, each concentric never-ending line imbued with the connection between human touch, balanced ecosystems and thriving wildlife.

At our camps, guests will experience the vastness and power of nature, from landscapes that kiss the horizon to rivers that flow beyond reach. But they will also learn about intimate details from the rings on the bark of a tree to the wrinkly lines of wisdom on an elephant’s skin.

Our guides will lead you through these diverse landscapes, unveiling the intricate relationships between flora, fauna, and the elements, leaving you with a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of nature.

Each camp has been carefully chosen to showcase a specific ecosystem, whether it’s the vast floodplains of the Okavango Delta, the sprawl of the Zambezi River, or the lush woodlands of Hwange National Park. And accordingly, guides from each area know the land like they know their own palms. Our guides are the guardians of our guests’ experiences, and pride themselves on being able to share the essence of their homelands with personality and care.

Our camps & lodges operate in harmony with the surrounding land, wildlife, and people, they’re sustainable, have minimal impact on the environment, and work symbiotically with communities in the area.

Whether you choose to embark on a walking safari, a game drive, or a mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) excursion at any of our destinations, you can rest assured that our expert guides will be your constant companions, imparting their knowledge and passion every step of the way.

Together, you will unveil the stories behind Africa’s wild places, ensuring an unforgettable journey that transcends mere travel.
