A Wildlife Haven on the Zambezi River

One of our Signature Experiences, Nyamatusi Camp is nestled within Mana Pools National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Zambezi River. The name ‘Mana Pools’ (meaning ‘Four Pools’) originates from the park’s four permanent watering holes, which are central to its reputation as one of the world’s most breathtaking splendors and top wildlife attractions.  As you relax in the comfort of your luxury tented suite or explore this mighty destination on foot, experience the wild intertwining with timeless luxury.

Activities at Nyamatusi Camp include game drives, fishing excursions on the Zambezi River, canoeing safaris, walking safaris, and birding expeditions. After a day of safari activities and wildlife interactions, there’s no better way to unwind than to witness the magnificent sunset over the Zambezi.

The Camp’s sophisticated design and elegant architecture beautifully blend with the rugged landscape of the Zambezi. Designed with sustainability in mind, Nyamatusi Camp is powered entirely by solar energy and built from organic resources, including thatch and indigenous materials. It features handwoven lighting fixtures and furniture, highlighting the craftsmanship of local artisans and enhancing the eco-conscious status. A cozy wine cellar, an ambient firepit, a stylish bar, and a shared plunge pool create the perfect setting for unforgettable moments among the African wild.

Nyamatusi Camp’s six luxury tented suites are each equipped with air conditioning, an indoor and outdoor shower, a mini bar, a viewing deck with outdoor seating, and a private plunge pool. The suites are adorned with soft drapery, ensuring a serene and elegant ambience, and all boast uninterrupted views of the majestic Zambezi River.

At Nyamatusi Camp, discover luxury in the wild on a classic safari: personal and refined.

Reviews

  • The views are magnificent and the service impeccable! The staff at Nyamatusi made us feel as if we were family. Game drives, walking safari and canoe trip were fabulous. Kuda was a great guide and Russell, a great host. Lions, elephants, hippos and more every day. AND I will forever be the very first customer of the cute little gift shop.

  • The tent was beyond beautiful as was the location. The staff could not have been better. I have stayed in many camps in various countries and none have come close to this one. I’ll be writing a separate review for the next camp (Somalisa Expeditions) but I could not more highly recommend Africa Bush Camps. They have set the standard everyone else should be trying to achieve. They are excellence defined.

  • The fantastic welcome I received on arrival set the tone for my stay at the property. The staff make you feel at home and my guide Alf was absolutely outstanding. As well as game drives (where we saw a lion get chased by an elephant!) I also did a walking safari and he made me feel incredibly comfortable leaving the vehicle and setting off on foot. Sitting with the wild dogs was the absolute highlight of my stay

Our Local Foundation Projects

Mambanje Community Garden

Food security and access to healthy food and produce are major challenges faced by communities surrounding our camps. The Mambanje community is located near the Hwange National Park border. This community has about 160 households in the community. The scarcity of food in this community has a massive impact on the livelihoods of the communities with many struggling to feed their families.

Mana Ranger Anti-poaching Unit

Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park is one of Southern Africa’s most remote and idyllic wildlife destinations. It is an acclaimed UNESCO world heritage site. Being so remote and secluded on two countries’ borders makes it an attractive target for wildlife poaching.

Mangwara Primary School

Mola rural district (village) is located parallel to the Bumi wildlife area and is roughly a 1.5-hour drive from our Bumi Hills Safari lodge in Kariba Zimbabwe. The Mola community is a population of 10,000 people which makes up about 2000 households. The community has poor road infrastructure, no network, electricity or running water.
