Our Build a Lion Boma Initiative aims to support the ABCF Human-Wildlife conflict efforts in the Mola community in Zimbabwe. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions. A boma is a cloth material that is used to cover kraal’s so lions are unable to see the animals in the kraal, thus protecting the livestock inside from lions. By protecting the community’s livestock from lions and other predators, we are reducing human-wildlife conflict in the area and retaliation killing of wildlife.
Should you wish to build a boma, a donation of $2,000 towards the foundation will apply which goes towards the cost of the lion boma. Groups bookings of 4 people or less will require a private vehicle which can be booked for a cost of $1500 and reserves a private vehicle and guide for you for the duration of your stay at our camp -up to 3 nights.

Mola rural district (village) is located parallel to the Bumi wildlife area and is roughly a 1.5-hour drive from our Bumi Hills Safari lodge in Kariba Zimbabwe. The Mola community is a population of 10,000 people which makes up about 2000 households.
Human-wildlife conflict and co-existence remain a critical part of our conservation efforts. The balance between protecting livestock, and the livelihoods of the community and protecting wildlife from poaching is key to advancing our conservation efforts in the national parks.
