The award is dedicated to individuals with long standing and continual passion for the continent and the industry, one who has contributed to shaping positive perceptions of Africa as a brand for the future. We are thrilled that Beks’ love and enthusiasm for responsible travel in Africa has been recognised by leaders in the industry. Beks has shown that he is not only a tour operator but a social entrepreneur and he is proving to be one of the most enterprising and inspiring players in the Tourism Industry, one who promotes and influences travel to Africa on a global scale.
Yvonne Bahlangene, African Bush Camps Guest Relations Officer and the African Bush Camps Foundation Brand Ambassador, won the Rise Africa award. The award recognises up and coming young stars making a mark in the African travel industry. This was a well-deserved win for Yvonne who uses her natural charisma to unravel a wilderness adventure that exceeds guests’ expectations, and shows them the true spirit of Africa. Through her ambassadorship of the African Bush Camps Foundation, Yvonne paves the way for visitors to Africa to be a conduit toward prosperity and development for the continent and to help us preserve our continents heritage. Yvonne is truly one of the next generation of trailblazers in the industry and we are very proud of her.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the We Are Africa tribe members who voted for Beks and Yvonne, as well as our congratulations to the other nominees. It was an honour to be nominated beside such inspiring people in the industry.
