Our Perfect Family Safari: A Guest Blog by Daisy Seilern

There is nothing more exhilarating than your first safari in Africa – especially when its experienced with your loved ones. Family is something we cherish, this is why we have curated our family-friendly camps to cater to the needs of the whole family especially your little cubs.

An African safari is unique and can help introduce the world to children in ways that can’t be taught. Travel is a rich and rewarding experience and a family safari is an adventure you won’t want to miss out on.

One of guests, Daisy Seilern and her family recently visited two of our family friendly camps in Botswana, Linyanti Ebony and Khwai Leadwood.

She documented her experience in this special blog below.

Our Stay at Khwai Leadwood

We stayed at African Bush Camp Khwai Leadwood for three nights with our three children (ages 8, 11, and 12). The lodge was breathtaking! The interior was colonial style, comfortable, and absolutely beautiful! We loved the river in front of the terrace and the fire place to watch the elephants. It is pure luxury in the middle of the bush. Also, the food was excellent!

Moremi Game Reserve is very close and has a huge number of animals and different species. Our guide was called Banda—and we have never had such a good guide before!!!

He was wonderful and patient with the children and had so much knowledge about nature and animals. He explained everything to them and engaged the kids in tracking the animals. We saw leopards, elephants, Impalas, crocodiles, hippos, lions, baboons, giraffes, and warthogs.

It is an animal paradise. We’ve done a few safaris before, but this was our favourite location ever. Lots of the roads were underwater and it was such an adventure to drive through the water with the Jeep. The kids had a blast.

We would always come back!

Linyanti Ebony

We stayed at African Bush Camp Linyanti Ebony for two nights with our three children (ages 8, 11, 12and )

The lodge was beautiful and right by the water! The interior was colonial style, with a fireplace the river, a little pool and terra ace. It is a small but very beautiful camp, and the staff are amazing. Also, the kitchen and food by Chef Valentine is really exquisite. In the evening, we sat by the fire and everyone told stories about what they saw at the game drives. It is authentic, wild and beautiful.

 At night, you can hear the hyaenas and the hippos and see the most wonderful stars.

Our guide was called Jerry, and he was amazing. He had great knowledge about nature and animals, was patient with the kids, engaged the kids in different activities, and found the most beautiful sundowner spots.

We also did the helicopter flight with no doors!!! It was such a fun experience, a bit scary in the beginning, but unforgettable.
