On a morning game drive with Professional Guide, Kenneth, guests were wooed by seeing feeding sessions for both lion cubs and endangered wild dog pups on the very same day.

The lion cubs were about 5 months old and the wild dog pups, roughly 3 months. It is unusual to see such young offspring at this time of year, leading into the peak of the dry season when food availability is scarce. Kenneth tells us of how the great success of these lions and wild dogs in their hunting efforts have made it possible for these offspring to thrive. Botswana recently enjoyed one of the best rainy seasons in decades, receiving a high amount of life giving water, which could also be a contributing factor to this unusually timed sighting.

For a chance to see these sorts of youthful sightings, at a time of year where they can be expected, take advantage of our Secret Season Special with reduced rates for stays of 3 nights or more at any African Bush Camps property.
