African Bush Camps Unveils TALA Gin: Twenty Years of Safari, Bottled.

As the bush softens into dusk and dusty boots leave subtle tracks in gilded sand, the air swirls with the scent of crushed wild sage.

It clings to clothes, lingers on skin, and refuses to be forgotten.

The aroma rises, sweeping across floodplains, curling through valleys, and etching itself into the memory of everyone who has ever been here.

TALA Gin was born from this.

Two Decades of Safari. This is how we celebrate.

Named from the Setswana word for blue and green, the colors of the landscapes that inspired it, TALA is African Bush Camps’ own small-batch gin, crafted to capture the soul of a Southern African safari.

Distilled in partnership with Cape Craft Lab and available exclusively across all African Bush Camps Experiences from May 2026.

The Botanicals

Wild sage, wild basil, African juniper, and jackalberry. Each botanical is hand-foraged from the landscapes our guests explore, chosen to reflect the terrain, the traditions, and the soul of the African bush.

“The sage is the hero,” says distiller Matt Breech. “Its aroma underfoot and in the air is captured perfectly in the nose of the gin. Wild basil brings a clove-like effervescence, and collecting jackalberries alongside the local birds was a truly remarkable adventure.”

A Drink. A Memory. A Celebration.

Pour it over ice with tonic beneath a mopane tree as the sun goes down. Share it around a crackling campfire. Raise it to the stars.

“For me, TALA is about celebration. As the sun sets it is a salute to the day, to the people around you, and to the land beneath your feet. I hope it becomes part of the essence of who we are: celebrating life, each other, and nature, with intention.” Beks Ndlovu, Founder and CEO, African Bush Camps.
