African Bush Camps Debuts TALA: Wild Sage Infused Gin

African Bush Camps (ABC), a luxury safari operator with bespoke Experiences across Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, is proud to announce the launch of TALA, their very own small-batch gin.

TALA is crafted in partnership with Cape Craft Lab, a boutique distillery based in Cape Town, South Africa, and will soon be available exclusively across all African Bush Camps Experiences.

About TALA

TALA was created to celebrate twenty years of ABC. Named from the local Setswana word for blue and green, TALA reflects the colors of the Okavango Delta. Its botanicals, including wild sage, wild basil, and jackalberry, are hand-foraged just a few miles from ABC’s Experiences in the region.

The Story Behind the Spirit

The scent of wild sage is woven into every ABC safari. It is often the first thing guests notice as the game vehicle moves through the bush, gently crushing its leaves and releasing their distinct fragrance. The same scent returns on a walking safari, just as vivid underfoot. TALA was created to capture this: a grounding, unmistakable aroma that brings guests straight back to safari.

For two decades, ABC has shared Southern Africa with travelers while partnering with local communities to conserve it. TALA carries that purpose into a glass.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Purpose

Cape Craft Lab, an award-winning distillery based in Cape Town, is known for spirits that capture the character of the places they originate. That philosophy made them a natural partner for ABC, whose own mission has always been rooted in people, place, and authenticity.

“The wild sage is the hero,” says Cape Craft Lab distiller, Matt Breech. “Its aroma underfoot and in the air is captured perfectly in the nose of the gin. Wild basil brings a clove-like effervescence, and collecting jackalberries alongside the local birds was a remarkable adventure.”

Availability

TALA will soon be poured exclusively across all ABC Experiences and is currently not available for retail purchase. Guests can ask their host for a glass at sundown.
