In an era where travelers increasingly demand transparency and real conservation impact, African Bush Camps stands out as a leading example of ethical safari tourism in Africa. The company is highlighted among operators genuinely aligning luxury travel with conservation, community upliftment, and local empowerment.
Founded and led by Beks Ndlovu, African Bush Camps demonstrates how African-owned safari companies can reshape an industry long dominated by foreign ownership. Under his leadership, ABC has prioritized local employment, leadership development, and long-term conservation outcomes—creating ripple effects that extend far beyond individual lodges.
The article points to African Bush Camps’ role in inspiring staff members to launch their own safari companies, emphasizing the importance of representation and role modeling within tourism. This approach strengthens local ownership, builds generational skills, and ensures conservation benefits remain rooted in surrounding communities.
African Bush Camps’ ethical credentials are further reinforced through its operational practices: local hiring, career advancement pathways, sustainable infrastructure, and a commitment to transparency around impact. These principles position ABC as a benchmark for travelers seeking responsible safaris that deliver measurable environmental and social returns.
As the safari industry continues to recover post-pandemic, African Bush Camps exemplifies why ethical tourism matters more than ever—proving that conservation, community development, and world-class safari experiences are not mutually exclusive, but fundamentally interconnected.

This was truly a 5+ star bucket list experience. We were treated with the utmost respect, generosity and kindness by every staff member. We appreciated the understated luxury, attention to detail, magnificent lodge decor, the on-the-Zambezi River setting, the phenomenal food, guides, trip to the epic Vic Falls and optional activities...
Julia K, March 2024Managing 23 travelers from California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Montana was difficult. Finding a camp in the Okavango was also difficult. Fortunately, I made contact with Vanessa Stanley, and she was able to assist in finding two camps that were proximal to each other, thus allowing a group of 23 to have meals and free time together and still be at a bush camp. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
