Experience the magic of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park with photographer and avid traveler, Brian Mcintosh, as he embarks on a six-day luxury safari at Lolebezi. From the infinity pool that spills toward the Zambezi River to breath-held moments among elephants and lions, this is a journey seen through the lens of a storyteller who chases more than just the perfect shot.
“Just wrapped up an incredible all-inclusive stay at Lolebezi with African Bush Camps and I’m still absorbing everything I experienced. I’ll be sharing why this place left such a mark on me and why I believe it will do the same for you. So, buckle up and let’s begin!
First – the architecture is unlike anything I’ve seen in safari. It’s a perfect blend of modern luxury and deep respect for the landscape, feeling both grand and intimate. I lost count of how many times elephants casually strolled through the property. Falling asleep to hippos calling from the Zambezi River? Unforgettable.
The dining experience was hands down the best I’ve had at any safari lodge. The culinary team works magic for every palate and dietary need – turning each meal into an event. And I’m usually picky about food!”

At Lolebezi in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, luxury meets nature in a way you simply have to see to believe.
“I’d be remiss not to mention the spaces that bring everyone together! Lolebezi’s main lodge strikes this perfect balance between polished elegance and raw, natural textures – like a sophisticated treehouse overlooking the Zambezi. I kept catching myself just standing there, in awe.
The marble green granite bar? A total showstopper. It’s not just beautiful – it’s the heartbeat of the lodge, where conversations flowed as easily as the cocktails.
Then there’s the upstairs game room – a hidden gem accessed via spiral stairs. Think pool, ping-pong, and even a telescope for stargazing. It felt like a secret level designed for those quieter moments between game drives.
And finally, the pool. This massive infinity pool looks straight out over the Zambezi. I spent hours here watching the river and the elephants in the distance. It’s one of those spots you never want to leave.”

The centerpiece that took the show has to be this stunning marble green granite bar! Trust me when I tell you that it’s both a work of art and the heart of the social experience.

If I’m being honest, it’s the bedroom that made me want to visit Lolebezi.
“Okay, let’s talk about how AMAZING these fully stocked suites are – they’ve redefined what I thought was possible in safari accommodation.
I mean, just look at this place! It sells itself. The architecture is genuinely one of a kind, with thoughtful details everywhere. There are both indoor and outdoor showers with total privacy and Zambezi River views.
But honestly? It was the bedroom that made me want to visit Lolebezi. That LED accent around the mosquito netting is a game-changer – I’ve never seen anything so beautiful surrounding a bed. And each suite has its own private pool and sala overlooking the river.
The sala was my favorite spot to rest, sip coffee, and watch elephants pass by. You could spend the whole day there, guilt-free.”

You can enjoy both an indoor and outdoor shower while maintaining total privacy as you stare out into the Zambezi River.

Every single suite has its own private pool and sala overlooking the river.
“Experiencing a safari in the Lower Zambezi is truly special. Exploring by both truck and boat gives you more chances to spot incredible wildlife. We saw massive elephant herds, graceful impala, majestic buffalo, and even a pride of lions playing hide-and-seek. The diversity here amazed me – from tiny colorful birds to hippos in the river. Every game drive felt completely unique.
Lolebezi takes things up a notch with their sundowners. Just when you think you’ve found the perfect spot, they surprise you with an even more serene setting. Every sunset felt magical, with golden rays setting the scene for the ultimate ‘happy hour’.
What makes this place unforgettable is how every experience feels both carefully planned and wonderfully spontaneous – thanks to a team that knows this land inside out.”

Experiencing a safari in the Lower Zambezi is just SPECIAL!

We encountered massive elephant herds, graceful impala, majestic buffalo, and even caught a pride of lions playing hide-and-go seek in the African bush.
“I’ve had spa treatments all over the world, but nothing compares to having wildlife as your view while melting into complete relaxation.
The semi-open concept made me feel just a stone’s throw from the elements. It’s this perfect blend of luxury and nature that’s so rare to find. I suggest a massage shortly after your morning safari – there’s nothing more relaxing than magical hands working out knots in your muscles. Let me tell you, the struggle to stay awake was real! I had a massage that left me lying there for 5-10 minutes, wondering what just happened.
So, relax at your own risk!”

I suggest going for a massage shortly after getting back from your morning safari.
“Every single meal here was spectacular. This was dining on safari at its finest – a level of creativity and execution that rivals the best restaurants I’ve been to, except you’re dining with the sounds of the African bush as your soundtrack.
The chefs here don’t just accommodate dietary restrictions – they embrace them as creative challenges. Every meal feels like a celebration. The attention to detail, the quality of ingredients, the presentation – it’s all world-class, yet never stuffy or overdone. Just pure, elevated comfort in the most beautiful setting imaginable.”

“With that, this takeover is a wrap! I hope this inspired you to visit and see why Lolebezi, the Lower Zambezi, and Zambia are so special. Leaving is always tough, but the good news is – you can always come back. I’m already planning my return. Until next time!”

Julia K, March 2024Managing 23 travelers from California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Montana was difficult. Finding a camp in the Okavango was also difficult. Fortunately, I made contact with Vanessa Stanley, and she was able to assist in finding two camps that were proximal to each other, thus allowing a group of 23 to have meals and free time together and still be at a bush camp. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
