Zambezi Expeditions is situated within Mana Pools National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprised of four permanent watering holes that attract wildlife year-round. Located directly on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, Zambezi Expeditions falls nothing short of extraordinary. Allow the soothing sounds of the River to lull you to sleep as you listen out for the soft thud of elephant footsteps through camp. Embrace the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the rhythms of Africa: real and remote.  

Activities

Upon arrival, explore breathtaking landscapes in the form of floodplains, grasslands, and riverine forests. Dive into a range of bespoke safari activities, including game drives, canoeing safaris, and catch-and-release fishing trips. Led by your local professional guide, walking safaris are ideal for exploring Mana Pools National Park on foot. From elephant and buffalo to lion and leopard, and even the elusive wild dog, every encounter at Zambezi Expeditions is mesmerizingly close and unforgettably captivating.  

Design

Zambezi Expeditions offers the perfect blend of comfort and connection to nature. Experience barriers dissolving as only canvas and gauze separate you from the African bush. The shared common area features a comfortable lounge and a spacious dining table, as well as a complete bar set up. Refresh and unwind by the main area plunge pool and spend the evening under the starry African sky as you share the day’s adventures around the glow of the fire. Zambezi Expeditions is powered predominantly by solar power, with charging facilities in the main area.  

Luxury Accommodation

The Experience features six luxury tents that perfectly combine comfort and elegance. Each luxury tent is equipped with safari-style rain showers, king-size beds, and floor-to-ceiling mesh windows. Accommodating just 12 guests at a time, expect an exclusive experience amid the remote beauty of Mana Pools National Park.

    Authentic safari experience on the banks of Zambezi

    I had a fantastic time at Zambezi Expeditions camp. The location is superb, just on the bank; the view alone makes it worth coming there. Lots of wildlife around, elephants were in the camp every day and one night we had five lions passing through. The team is great, very friendly and professional, cannot fault anything.

    Overall, it really felt like an authentic safari experience in a small and intimate setting. Evenings around campfire star-gazing and listening to the sounds of the wild were a perfect finish to busy days exploring the wild.

    The guiding was superb, especially walking safaris were incredible experience, done very safely and professionally.
    Overall, I highly recommend Zambezi Expeditions camp to everyone visiting Mana Pools – it is an experience of a lifetime.

    Zambezi Expeditions

    Zambezi Expeditions is a seasonal tented camp situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, rustic, completely off grid and remote.

    Sebastien and his team were the most awesome guides, and made sure our stay was exceptional in every way. Staff are so friendly, warm and welcoming, entertaining us with their own histories and stories, and sharing their rich Zimbabwean cultural traditions. The location on the banks of the river is serene and peaceful, although expect vocal hippos at night 😀

    A piece of heaven

    OMG. What an absolutely beautiful place to be. The camp was right on the Zambezi River with the Zambia mountains behind. Breathtaking scenery and animals in abundance.

    All the staff went out of their way to make sure my stay was magical. My tent was so comfortable. Bucket shower. They would ask what time you would like to shower and what temperature you would like your water and it was ready for you.

    I was totally spoilt and loved every second I was there. An experience I will never forget. Thank you for making my dream come into fruition.

Food security and access to healthy food and produce are major challenges faced by communities surrounding our camps. The Mambanje community is located near the Hwange National Park border. This community has about 160 households in the community. The scarcity of food in this community has a massive impact on the livelihoods of the communities with many struggling to feed their families.

Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park is one of Southern Africa’s most remote and idyllic wildlife destinations. It is an acclaimed UNESCO world heritage site. Being so remote and secluded on two countries’ borders makes it an attractive target for wildlife poaching.

Mangwara Primary School

Mola rural district (village) is located parallel to the Bumi wildlife area and is roughly a 1.5-hour drive from our Bumi Hills Safari lodge in Kariba Zimbabwe. The Mola community is a population of 10,000 people which makes up about 2000 households. The community has poor road infrastructure, no network, electricity or running water.
