A Wildlife Haven in Mana Pools National Park

Where the Wild Intertwines with Timeless Luxury on the Zambezi River

One of our Signature Experiences, Nyamatusi Camp is nestled within Mana Pools National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Zambezi River. The name ‘Mana Pools’ (meaning ‘Four Pools’) originates from the park’s four permanent watering holes, which are central to its reputation as one of the world’s most breathtaking splendors and top wildlife attractions.  As you relax in the comfort of your luxury tented suite or explore this mighty destination on foot, experience the wild intertwining with timeless luxury.

Activities

Activities at Nyamatusi Camp include game drives, fishing excursions on the Zambezi River, canoeing safaris, and birding expeditions. What really stands out here, though, are the walking safaris, offering a rare chance to track and observe African wild dogs on foot. After a day filled with safari adventures and close-up wildlife encounters, there’s no better way to unwind than watching the sun set over the mighty Zambezi River.

Design

The Camp’s sophisticated design and elegant architecture beautifully blend with the rugged landscape of the Zambezi. Designed with sustainability in mind, Nyamatusi Camp is powered entirely by solar energy and built from organic resources, including thatch and indigenous materials. It features handwoven lighting fixtures and furniture, highlighting the craftsmanship of local artisans and enhancing the eco-conscious status. A cozy wine cellar, an ambient fire pit, a stylish bar, and a shared plunge pool create the perfect setting for unforgettable moments among the African wild.

Luxury Accommodation

Nyamatusi Camp’s six luxury tented suites are each equipped with air conditioning, an indoor and outdoor shower, a mini bar, a viewing deck with outdoor seating, and a private plunge pool. The suites are adorned with soft drapery, ensuring a serene and elegant ambiance, and all boast uninterrupted views of the majestic Zambezi River.

At Nyamatusi Camp, discover luxury in the wild on a classic safari: personal and refined.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When is the best time to visit Nyamatusi Camp?

Emerald Season (December – April) transforms the landscape into a lush, green paradise. With wildflowers in bloom, full water sources, and an abundance of newborn wildlife, it’s ‘baby season’ in the bush. As the rains fade, Diamond Season (May – September) takes over with cooler temperatures, crystal-clear skies, and ideal conditions for walking safaris and stargazing. By October and November, Amber Season sets the stage for high drama: intense heat, drying waterholes, and some of the year’s most thrilling predator-prey action in Mana Pools National Park.

2. Is Nyamatusi Camp suitable for first-time safari guests?

Nyamatusi Camp is the perfect introduction to safari for those seeking authenticity over crowds. The Experience combines refined luxury with a profound connection to nature while offering expert guiding, warm hospitality, and bespoke safari experiences. Alternatively, consider our Experiences in Botswana for a first-time safari.

3. What should I pack for Nyamatusi Camp?

Pack lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral tones, along with a wide-brimmed hat, comfortable walking shoes, and swimwear. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera are a must. During the cooler months of Diamond Season, bring warm layers for early morning game drives and evenings around the fire.

    Zambezi River done right!

Our last stop of a magical time with African Bush Camps. All was 100% perfect. Highlight was chef cooking out on grill for two nights. Can’t say enough of the beauty of the camp, the wonderful staff, and the animals!

    Excellent!!!!!

It was an excellent stay !!!!. You are greeted with a welcome song by the staff. Rooms are very large and well appointed. Tents are spaced so everyone has a lot of privacy. Small plunge pools are by the rooms in addition to the larger main pool. The safaris were excellent and in addition you start with an excellent breakfast. Sundowners were always a nice treat.

Our guide, Ntando, was extremely knowledgeable. He could explain at length about the animals, birds, plants, trees and funny past experiences. Highly recommend Nyamatusi!!!!!

    On foot and four wheels

The location of this camp is top notch, and the property itself is beautiful! The rooms all have their own little plunge pool and air conditioning! Nyamatusi also takes the award for best dessert of the whole trip. The chef made a banana banoffee pie that was out of this world!

Mana Pools was very high on my list due to the fact that you have the opportunity to spend more time on foot and do approaches game.

Mambanje Community Garden

Food security and access to healthy food and produce are major challenges faced by communities surrounding our camps. The Mambanje community is located near the Hwange National Park border. This community has about 160 households in the community. The scarcity of food in this community has a massive impact on the livelihoods of the communities with many struggling to feed their families.

Mana Ranger Anti-poaching Unit

Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park is one of Southern Africa’s most remote and idyllic wildlife destinations. It is an acclaimed UNESCO world heritage site. Being so remote and secluded on two countries’ borders makes it an attractive target for wildlife poaching.

Mangwara Primary School

Mola rural district (village) is located parallel to the Bumi wildlife area and is roughly a 1.5-hour drive from our Bumi Hills Safari lodge in Kariba Zimbabwe. The Mola community is a population of 10,000 people which makes up about 2000 households. The community has poor road infrastructure, no network, electricity or running water.
