Experience the Wildlife of This UNESCO World Heritage Site Close Up; Captivating and Mesmerizing

Kanga Expeditions offers a remarkable experience set in the remote beauty of Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its unique ecosystems and diverse wildlife. The name ‘Mana Pools’ (meaning ‘Four Pools’) originates from the Park’s four permanent watering holes, which are central to its reputation as one of the world’s top natural attractions.  Kanga Expeditions itself overlooks Kanga Pan – the sole source of water in a 12-mile radius – drawing wildlife from near and far directly to the Experience. Once here, settle down for an unforgettable journey as you become one with the wild.

Embark on morning and afternoon game drives, along with immersive walking safaris that bring you within breathtaking proximity to animals such as wild dogs and elephants. Overlooking the picturesque Kanga Pan, this Experience features a spacious, elevated wooden deck – your front-row seat to the wonders of wildlife. By day, this tranquil spot is perfect for observing an array of animals and vibrant birdlife. At night, a spotlight casts light on the Pan (expertly controlled by your guide) revealing the exciting nocturnal activity of safari. Photography enthusiasts will love our dedicated hide, hidden beneath the deck, offers incredible opportunities to capture unforgettable wildlife moments.

At Kanga Expeditions, barriers dissolve as only canvas and gauze separate you from the African bush. The earthy tones and textures of the Experience draw you into the heart of nature while offering a luxurious stay. The shared common area overlooking the Pan includes a relaxing lounge space and a spacious dining table, along with a fully stocked bar for your enjoyment. Enjoy refreshing dips in the plunge pool – perfect for spotting wildlife while you swim. In the evenings, unwind and share the day’s safari stories around the firepit under a canopy of glistening stars.

Kanga Expeditions offers six luxury tents, each equipped with floor-to-ceiling mesh windows that offer beautiful views and lots of sunlight. Each luxury tent is powered by solar energy and features an outdoor shower and a private elevated veranda – ideal for enjoying the spectacular views of the Pan. Our luxury family tent features a wraparound terrace with exclusive seating and dining area – perfect for sharing meals with family. For an unforgettable romantic getaway, the luxury honeymoon tent features a rolltop bath on a private deck, providing the perfect backdrop for a magical soak beneath the stars.

At Kanga Expeditions, feel in touch with the land and be touched by the wonders of nature.

    Wonderful.

Kanga Camp was absolutely terrific. All the staff were so friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The tented “rooms” were extremely comfortable, the food so delicious and our guide, Reggie, was knowledgable and entertaining, sharing in our joy of the “little guys”- the birds, trees and insects, as well as the big game. What made it so special was due to it being dry season, the elephants came right up to the deck-dining area, demanding water from the borehole! So entertaining to watch, and there were so many of them. The game was literally on our doorstep from late morning onwards and the excitement continued, with a lion kill of a zebra, just yards from the camp. We loved every second and would love to return.

Amazing Safari Camp – 5 Star

We had the most fantastic stay at Kanga camp. Very much more of a “rustic” camp but that adds to the experience. Reggie our guide was extremely knowledgeable, experienced and entertaining, making the game drives unforgettable. The food was excellent, Joyce the host and her team (Blessing, Bee) were fantastic, as were the rest of the staff at Kanga. A very special place, with animals everywhere you looked at the watering hole the camp is based around. All day there were elephants galavanting in the mud, drinking water straight from the borehole as well as all the other usual suspects. The stay was made even more special by seeing a lion kill within 50metres of the camp, and also 2 leopards with a kill in a tree, with Hyenas scavenging below!

    Kanga April 2025

We had an unforgettable four nights at Kanga at the beginning of the season. We were extremely lucky to have had the camp to ourselves. From the welcome to the sad departure, we were treated royally by the staff. Cliffy, our guide, Joyce, our host, Blessing and Chef Derek and all the other staff are amazing. Two people that deserve special mention are Cliffy, for being patient, friendly, funny, extremely knowledgeable (fauna and flora, birds, animals, and astronomy), and an amazing driver. Joyce, who is always there to assist with any query and give a welcoming cool towel after each activity. The setting, scenery, accommodation and food is incredible. We had a wonderful walk through the bush with Cliffy, which really gets the adrenalin flowing. The trip exceeded our expectations, and we cannot wait to return to Kanga.
