Our Build a Lion Boma Initiative aims to support the ABCF Human-Wildlife conflict efforts in the Mola community in Zimbabwe. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions. A boma is a cloth material that is used to cover kraal’s so lions are unable to see the animals in the kraal, thus protecting the livestock inside from lions. By protecting the community’s livestock from lions and other predators, we are reducing human-wildlife conflict in the area and retaliation killing of wildlife.
Should you wish to build a boma, a donation of $2,000 towards the foundation will apply which goes towards the cost of the lion boma. Groups bookings of 4 people or less will require a private vehicle which can be booked for a cost of $1500 and reserves a private vehicle and guide for you for the duration of your stay at our camp -up to 3 nights.
T&C’s Apply
This initiative is included in the conservation impact safari or can be added to any ABC safari booking that includes our Bumi Hills Safari Lodge.

We spend three days at Bumi and loved every minute. From the greeting when we arrived, to the similarly wonderful farewell song when we left, it was an amazing experience. We have stayed in a number of safari lodges in various countries and enjoyed them all and Bumi was no exception.
What Bumi has is fantastic scenery and the ability to see animals a little differently. E.g. a whole pod of hippos, just basking on the water’s edge, then suddenly deciding to run into the water. A fantastic sight. Also, Bumi has a very personal touch. We were given a surprise every day. The first day, the whole staff came out before dinner and sang some traditional songs and danced.
The staff were all amazing too. We just loved it here.
Bumi Hills was an incredibly unique and restorative location on our recent safari trip. We immediately felt at home here…it’s such a beautiful place, set above Lake Kariba with views that just don’t stop.
Our room was lovely, and had some very welcomed air conditioning. Bumi Hills is a different style of safari than I usually book, however, it is one of my favorites!
I would not hesitate to return again. Overall, I give Bumi Hills a 10/10 rating.
Bumi Hills is fantastically located over Lake Kariba with great views. The rooms are luxurious, all common areas with great views, food very good, guide was also good.
We would definitely come back.

Human-wildlife conflict and co-existence remain a critical part of our conservation efforts. The balance between protecting livestock, and the livelihoods of the community and protecting wildlife from poaching is key to advancing our conservation efforts in the national parks. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions

This was truly a 5+ star bucket list experience. We were treated with the utmost respect, generosity and kindness by every staff member. We appreciated the understated luxury, attention to detail, magnificent lodge decor, the on-the-Zambezi River setting, the phenomenal food, guides, trip to the epic Vic Falls and optional activities...
Julia K, March 2024Managing 23 travelers from California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Montana was difficult. Finding a camp in the Okavango was also difficult. Fortunately, I made contact with Vanessa Stanley, and she was able to assist in finding two camps that were proximal to each other, thus allowing a group of 23 to have meals and free time together and still be at a bush camp. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
