An Unforgettable Zimbabwe Safari on Lake Kariba

Discover Luxury in the Wild on Lake Kariba

Set within the secluded hills of northern Zimbabwe, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge offers breathtaking views of the vast and shimmering Lake Kariba – one of the largest reservoirs in the world. Here, embark on an unforgettable Zimbabwe safari, where refined luxury meets the serenity of one of Africa’s most incredible remote destinations.

On its own private safari concession, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is surrounded by rich wildlife thanks to its proximity to Matusadona National Park. Expect remarkable game viewing as you witness Lake Kariba teeming with hippos, crocodiles and an impressive array of bird species, while the surrounding bush is home to lions, leopards, elephants, and more. At the Lodge, enjoy a variety of activities including boating, game drives, fishing, sunset cruises, walking safaris, star gazing, night drives, and birdwatching.

Embracing its beautiful surrounds, the Lodge is adorned with wooden elements and natural textures that integrate the local Tongan influences. At its heart is the elegant viewing deck that offers sweeping views of the lake and its bustling wildlife habitats, as well as a canvas-covered bar and open dining area. Indulge in the infinity pool and watch as the distinction between water and sky dissolves.  Refresh your mind and energize your body from the comfort of the on-site wellness spa and fully equipped gym.

The Lodge houses 10 spacious suites, each complete with air-conditioning, a freestanding bath, an indoor and outdoor shower, a mini bar, and a private viewing deck extending out towards Lake Kariba. In addition, the private Baobab Villa is the perfect family retreat or friends’ getaway – featuring two large suites, a living room, and an outdoor and indoor dining area. The Villa also comes with the personalized services of a butler, a guide, and the exclusive use of a safari vehicle – ensuring every aspect of your experience is tailored to perfection.

At Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, experience the quintessential safari while discovering luxury in the wild.

Build a Boma

Our Build a Lion Boma Initiative aims to support the ABCF Human-Wildlife conflict efforts in the Mola community in Zimbabwe. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions. A boma is a cloth material that is used to cover kraal’s so lions are unable to see the animals in the kraal, thus protecting the livestock inside from lions. By protecting the community’s livestock from lions and other predators, we are reducing human-wildlife conflict in the area and retaliation killing of wildlife.

Should you wish to build a boma, a donation of $2,000 towards the foundation will apply which goes towards the cost of the lion boma. Groups bookings of 4 people or less will require a private vehicle which can be booked for a cost of $1500 and reserves a private vehicle and guide for you for the duration of your stay at our camp -up to 3 nights.

T&C’s Apply

This initiative is included in the conservation impact safari or can be added to any ABC safari booking that includes our Bumi Hills Safari Lodge.

    Beautiful experience!

Bumi is very special! It’s definitely a place you come to relax and not your traditional safari lodge! Enjoy the laid-back vibes and go on lake cruises, village visits and go fishing! It was such a highlight of my stay! Nyasha, Simeon, Lemon, Sunshine every single person there went above and beyond! I know I’m leaving out names! Thank you, my time was wonderful!

    Fabulous lodge on Lake Kariba

Bumi Hills is perfection. Gorgeous rooms on the hill offer stunning views and excellent comfort. Chef Sunshine prepared delightful meals and my Mola Village visit led by guide Power was a dream come true. The sunset lake cruise offered my opportunity to get fabulous photos, as did our nature and game drives. I can’t wait to return.

    Bumi is the best!

An all round amazing experience at Bumi, whether it was the excellent rooms the overall layout of the resort the fantastic views of the bush and Lake Kariba, the superb food. But what made it really special was the exceptional staff throughout Bumi, who could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and who were always accommodating. Everyone was smiling and happy. A special shout out to Mazvie, Tongai, Little Max, Simeon and Sheckie! Thank you!

Human Wildlife Co-existence Project

Human-wildlife conflict and co-existence remain a critical part of our conservation efforts. The balance between protecting livestock, and the livelihoods of the community and protecting wildlife from poaching is key to advancing our conservation efforts in the national parks. The Lion bomas are used to protect the community’s livestock from predators and lions
