Khwai Lediba

African Bush Camps is excited to announce the opening of Khwai Lediba, a luxury tented safari camp located along the banks of the Khwai River in the Khwai Concession of Botswana.

Indulge in a breathtaking African safari experience at Khwai Lediba, where you’ll witness the incredible wildlife of Moremi National Park, the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta. Imagine spotting lions, leopards, elephants, and giraffes roaming free in their natural habitat, all while immersed in the beauty of the African wilderness.

At Khwai Lediba, you’ll have access to an array of thrilling activities such as morning, afternoon, and night game drives, as well as walking and mokoro safaris (depending on water levels), allowing you to get up close and personal with the incredible wildlife of the region.

As part of the African Bush Camps Foundation’s community empowerment projects, you’ll also have the chance to visit the nearby Khwai village preschool and witness the positive impact of purpose-led travel firsthand.

Our Local Foundation Projects

Khwai Primary School

The community of Khwai was without a pre-school school in the area. Primary school learners would attend boarding schools out of the village in Maun and surrounding communities. ABCF partnered with Khwai Private Reserve and Naledi Foundation to develop a pre-school in the area for learners.

Vuche Vuche Basket Weaving Project

The Vuche Vuche Basket Weaving Project aims to empower women from the local community through basket weaving. This initiative creates employment opportunities whilst displaying Botswana’s heritage and culture through beautiful crafts. Baskets are for sale at ABC trading posts, and guests can visit Vuche Vuche to learn basket weaving and experience traditional dances.

Female Guides Training

Women from communities in Botswana do not have access to the same career opportunities as safari guides, compared to their male counterparts. This career is still largely a male-dominated one, with little active investment, training, or skills development in female guides that would empower them to pursue their dreams and provide for their families. Linked to this dynamic, there is also a scarcity of job opportunities currently available for female guides in camps in the area.
