An authentic bush experience and sustainable community-focused safari

Set within the Okavango’s community-run Khwai Concession, the camp laps up its beautiful lagoon front setting. Hemming the lagoon and perched on raised decking in a secluded setting for utmost privacy, this beautiful camp offers sweeping lagoon views of the Khwai River. Set within the Okavango’s community-run Khwai Concession it seamlessly blends into the encompassing woodland area. Simple yet elegant, Khwai Tented Camp is the epitome of a luxury Khwai safari

Khwai Tented Camp offers a Botswana safari that is in harmony with nature. In keeping with our eco-conscious approach, there are no permanent structures, and our camp is solar-powered. The main area is under canvas, comprising a comfortable lounge area, cosy bar and dining area which spills out onto the deck which extends down on to our barefoot luxury river sand beach area. From here, take in the breathtaking views of the lagoon over a cup of steaming hot coffee and some lively fireside chatter before or after your exciting safari activity. The nearby hammock or sparkling swimming pool beckons for some deep relaxation. A highlight is dining under the stars in our boma or al fresco out in the bush.

The Khwai Concession is arguably one of the most scenically beautiful parts of the Okavango Delta. This, combined with the fact that it is home to some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife, making it a wildly popular safari destination. We guarantee you the most exclusive experience of the area by heading out of camp an hour earlier on game drives. During the drive, our guides communicate via our dedicated radio channel in the Khwai, minimizing radio interruptions. Our intrepid guides’ unrivalled understanding of the area allows us to explore trails less trodden inside the park.

  • Wonderful place to stay, elephant grazing outside my room shoulder to shoulder with my deck, tracked a young leopard and watched a lion pair, my guide agreed to a breakfast sunrise run, he did the cooking, what fun.

  • We stayed 3 night here and 3 at Linyanti all with African Bush Camps. my wife and I could not recommend these camps highly enough.

The location, staff, food, accommodation and of course the game drives, Mokoro adventures, safari walking, were just second to none.

  • We went on a big anniversary trip to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana staying throughout in African Bush Camps and The Victoria Falls Hotel. Khwai Tented Camp was our last stop. Despite two weeks of 5.30am wake up calls we were still ready to enjoy the game drives because the staff were so enthusiastic and helpful! Our guide found me the elusive leopards we hadn’t seen elsewhere to really round off our trip.

  • The service is top-notch, and the host, Lebo, does a wonderful job of making the guests feel welcomed and special. After going out on safari with their excellent guides (we had Mighty and Aubrey, who were both impressive trackers and cool/interesting people) you’re always greeted back by friendly faces and amazing energy. After spending three nights at the camp, it really does start to feel like a home, and it is difficult to leave.
