African Bush Camps Sales Team Visits Thorntree River Lodge

Last weekend, the African Bush Camps sales team of safari aficionados took some time to visit our newly opened property, Thorntree River Lodge in Livingstone, Zambia. In order to give the right recommendations to guests, it was important that the sales team experienced the beautiful Thorntree first-hand. They had the most incredible time at Thorntree River Lodge- they cruised the waters of the mighty Zambezi and were awed by the sunset, they were wined and dined by our highly trained culinary staff, they explored the wonder of ‘The Smoke that Thunders’, and they had the privilege of walking with the highly endangered rhinos that have made Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park their sanctuary. Coral, one sales team, said of the experience, “The staff, food, and overall experience was one I shall never forget and Zambia will forever hold a small piece of my heart. Guests will be simply astounded by this property’s sheer beauty.”

“By far the best option for Victoria Falls, on both the Zambian and Zimbabwe side!” – Kate

All new guests to Thorntree plant a range of indigenous trees in the biodiversity garden in the front section of the lodge, where children will be able to take mini Walking Safaris and fish from the small water feature which uses recycled water!

This is to aid the reintroduction of the original ecosystem, which was previously destroyed. The lodge itself has been built with an environmentally-conscious design. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, the tented roof structure maintains the feel of authentic Africa. The wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of a sailing boat, and help to achieve a seamless feel between the river and the land.

rhino tracking Successful Rhino Tracking. Rhino’s are under 24hr armed protection in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.

Thorntree River Lodge offers game drives, helicopter flights and village visits among other activities. Rhino Tracking on foot is a favourite activity and with our professional and experienced guides, the tracking is often successful.
