From Victoria Falls, you can follow the Zambezi River downstream. There, you’ll find one of Africa’s best-kept areas of land: the Lower Zambezi National Park. It’s located just on the other side of the river from Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park. It’s not Zambia’s largest or even most bio-diverse national park, but its untamed, unspoilt nature makes it a good place to visit.

Despite its growing popularity as a safari destination, Zambia preserves a sense of wildness that has remained unspoiled by humans, making for an exciting and never-before-seen safari. If you’re looking forward to experiencing a breathtaking Zambia safari, you’ve started at the right place.

The Lower Zambezi National Park, is spread out over 4092 square kilometers, but most of the game can be spotted along the valley floor. There is an embankment at the north end of the park that keeps many animal species from getting close to each other there. Elephant herds of up to 100 are often seen at the river banks.

January is summertime, with warm daytime temperatures creeping up to around 30°C. The summer rains bring a freshness to the season and the landscapes in Lower Zambezi National Park, with plants, waterholes and rivers replenished by the waters. The summertime climate can seen dramatic thunderstorms, the perfect entertainment to witness Mother Nature in all her powerful glory. At the Falls, the summer rains are yet to all filter down, so the water level is medium to high, depending on how much rain has fallen over the previous months.
